Buying Guide Buying Guide

If you're serious about your Web site, then you're serious about your content.
That means you want not just more content, you want better content. Content that works with your existing site but expands it in new and compelling directions. Usually that kind of content only comes from long hard work illuminated by rare and unpredictable flashes of inspiration.

It certainly never comes easy and it never comes free - or does it? Read on...

What can Buying Guide do for your Web site or blog?
Let's be clear. Buying Guide is all about finding the right product for your needs.
Our second goal is to find the right vendor and the right price for that product.
Use Buying Guide to:

If having this capability would add value to your Web site or blog, then you'll be happy to see how easily and how well it works with your existing site.

It's all about your site

You are in complete control. Use Buying Guide links to support the existing content of your site. Add broad product searches to extend your discussion of a subject. Add a price comparison of a product that you review. Show results from a particular vendor that you like. Or just use Buying Guide for your own research when writing a post. Your decision.

It looks like your site

There are no formatting restrictions, no special graphics, no JavaScript, no required link text. Buying Guide links will look just like all of the other links on your site. (We would, of course, appreciate a mention of Buying Guide where possible :-)

It's correct

Have you ever seen a description of a product showing the wrong price? Of course, we all have. How about a posting of a deal that has expired? Or a product that's out of stock? Or even discontinued? Would you want any of those posted on your Web site or blog?

Unlike most product information sites, Buying Guide is NOT a database. It gets its information at the moment you request it, not last week/month/whenever.

"Every product in stock, every price current, every deal still valid, every auction live."

NO MAINTENANCE

Other product links go bad after a relatively short time for any number of reasons: the product is out of stock, discontinued, has a new model number, the destination site changed the address of the page (retailers do this all the time). Because Buying Guide links are searches, they find the product even if the retailer has completely redesigned its Web site. And if no retailer or auctioneer carries the product, Buying Guide will politely say so - not give an ugly error page.

The result - Buying Guide links remain up-to-date without any effort on your part.

Would you insult your visitors? Well, neither would we.
Buying Guide combines true ease of use up front with powerful programming under the hood. So anyone can use it and anyone can get extraordinary results.

Totally simple...

Your novice visitors will get what they need with a single click...

...but very powerful

...while your veterans will gain real value from our unique Bull's-Eye Finder and Significant Features tools, which appear when they click on the big "Find More" button after any search. There are also one-click price comparisons, vendor searches, manufacturer searches and a large number of product sorting options.

No advertising

Finding the right product is hard enough without someone shouting in your ear. Or disguising a sales pitch as real content. We don't do it.

Absolute privacy

We don't collect any personal or financial information about anybody. The only data we collect is what searches were performed and what products were clicked to go to a vendor's Web site (but NOT who did it.)

Yes, it's easy and yes, it's free. Well, actually IT pays YOU.
Our goal is to make Buying Guide the fastest and easiest way for you to add substantial content to your site. Your goal, we suspect, is to make your site pay for itself - and maybe pay you as well.
What a coincidence!

Easy

All you need to do is to place Buying Guide links anywhere you see fit. Example links are included at the top of every Guide. The entire Buying Guide site has been designed for ease of linking.

Free Profitable

Buying Guide uses the affiliate system, in which any sale generated by Buying Guide earns a commission from the retailer that makes the sale. Normally, these commissions are paid to Buying Guide. However, if you are a Buying Guide Partner, all valid commissions are paid directly to you. That's all as in 100% - we take nothing. And directly, as in from the retailer straight to you, as soon as the money becomes payable.

Here's how it works:

  1. Sign up to become a Buying Guide Partner using the link on this page.
While signing up, select a Guide Category that matches the focus of your Web site (such as Photo).
  2. On your Partner page, use the "account" links to apply for an affiliate account with each retailer.
This is a one-time-only procedure and must be done for each retailer before they can pay you commissions.
  3. As your affiliate accounts are established, enter the requested information in the Affiliate Code blanks on your Buying Guide Partner Account page.
We will insert these codes into appropriate links on Buying Guide, thus informing the retailers that you are responsible for purchases by your visitors.
  4. On your Web site, insert links to Buying Guide that incorporate your Partner Code.
Any sale in your Guide Category that occurs as a result of these links should earn you a commission. Of course, each sale must meet the criteria established by the retailer involved.

Notice that there are no fees, no contracts, no terms, no requirements.
If you don't think we are doing our part, tell us (use the Contact link at the top of every page). We will do our best to fix any problem. If you still don't think we are doing our part, just stop using the system. No harm, no foul. If we don't agree with the way you are doing things, we'll talk to you. If we can't come to an agreement, we might cancel your account. But not without telling you. Above all, this is a relationship between people - not machines. So let's work together for the good of all!
